The Neal Family of Meredith New Hampshire is ancient, and its lineage complicated.  The surname is spelled a variety of ways: Neal, Neale, Nele, etc. This name is found in the earliest records of New Hampshire’s immigration history.

This article is not being written to prove a detailed ancestry of the Neals, but rather to focus on two people — Mrs. Hannah (Smith) Neal, and her son Smith Neal of Meredith. I will let the genealogy below, speak for itself.

Hello Mary Angeli! Thanks for reading my blog post about the Neal family. I am sorry to hear about your friend who is in hospice in Manchester CT. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers. Did you have a question about this family?

  2. Susan Scharf says:

I find this extraordinarily interesting as Samuel is my 6th Great Grandfather. I have been working on this maternal side for awhile so am always interested to add further documentation.

    • Janice Brown says:

Susan thanks for the shout-out. The Neal family photographs (along with many other history items that I had collection) have now been donated to the New Hampshire Historical Society, and are in their possession.

      • Susan Scharf says:

Thanks for the tip! I will check it out, and probs join the NH Historical society. So much to learn about this branch of the family…and see if what I gathered is accurate.
