[Original editor’s note: Actually New Hampshire *has* a sales tax, but no income tax. Note revised December 2016: “New Hampshire is one of the few states with no statewide sales tax. There are, however, several specific taxes levied on particular services or products. These excises include a 9% tax on restaurants and prepared food consumed on-premises, a 9% tax on room and car rentals, a tax of $0.00055 cents per megawatt-hour on electricity, and a 7% tax on telecommunications services.”].

Your editor’s note is incorrect; New Hampshire has no sales or income tax.
Amy, I was only partially incorrect, and I have added a notation. Agreed, New Hampshire has no state-wide sales tax on all items sold. However we (since I live here) do pay sales taxes on certain services or products. “These excises include a 9% tax on restaurants and prepared food consumed on-premises, a 9% tax on room and car rentals, a tax of $0.00055 cents per megawatt-hour on electricity, and a 7% tax on telecommunications services.” So we cannot say we have no sales taxes. We do.
