great blog caroling songbook 2015 logoGranite State Christmas by Fat City Band
[listen to the tune]

Christmas time in the Granite State
Tis the season to celebrate
Yuletide greetings to one and all
Everybodys gonna have a ball

Because its Christmas time in the Granite State
Dixville Notch to Winnipesaukee Lake
Santa soars above the peaks
“Its more fun than BIKE WEEK!”

Because its Christmas time in the Granite State.
New Hampshire charm will captivate.
We’ll have a feast of turkey and goose.
“Hey Santa, watch out for that MOOSE!”
Because its Christmas …..

Santa’s spreading joy among us,
Sleighing down the Kancamagus.
Rudolph with your nose so bright,
Take me to New Hampshire tonight.

Santa’s spreading joy among us,
Sleighing down the Kancamagus.
Rudolph with your nose so bright,
Take me to New Hampshire tonight.

Christmas time in the Granite State,
No sales tax to contemplate.
Liquor’s cheap, aint no lie,
“Hey Santa, Live Free or Die….”

Its Christmas …
Yuletide season here in New ho ho ho Hampshire
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

[Original editor’s note: Actually New Hampshire *has* a sales tax, but no income tax.  Note revised December 2016:  “New Hampshire is one of the few states with no statewide sales tax. There are, however, several specific taxes levied on particular services or products. These excises include a 9% tax on restaurants and prepared food consumed on-premises, a 9% tax on room and car rentals, a tax of $0.00055 cents per megawatt-hour on electricity, and a 7% tax on telecommunications services.”].

***A MESSAGE OF IMPORTANCE***

Dearest Readers,
Our beloved colleague, and editor/publisher of Shades of the Departed, the divine footnoteMAVEN, came up with the idea of blog caroling on a winter’s eve, many long years ago. This year, as gift to fM, we continue, as any good genealogist would do, by celebrating the tradition. With fM’s permission, of course.

Ol’ Myrt is spreading good cheer, and is the organizer of this year’s Blog Caroling. If you wish to contribute to The Great Blog Caroling Song Book 2015 Edition, create your musical blog post, then post your link on the Friends of footnoteMAVEN Facebook Group located here.

We love you fM.  Merry Christmas.

  2. Amy Savoie says:

Your editor’s note is incorrect; New Hampshire has no sales or income tax.

    • Janice Brown says:

Amy, I was only partially incorrect, and I have added a notation. Agreed, New Hampshire has no state-wide sales tax on all items sold. However we (since I live here) do pay sales taxes on certain services or products. “These excises include a 9% tax on restaurants and prepared food consumed on-premises, a 9% tax on room and car rentals, a tax of $0.00055 cents per megawatt-hour on electricity, and a 7% tax on telecommunications services.” So we cannot say we have no sales taxes. We do.
